I think I’m currently in my favourite winter period for dressing, it’s cold enough to bundle up and put a coat on but still bearable enough to walk around outside without feeling like one of your extremities is going to fall off.
While we had a brief snowfall its been so mild this year and I have been making the most of showing off dresses and blouses instead of big padded coats and not being able to see what you have on underneath.
There’s something so wonderful about having a statement blouse that can be paired with the simplest of outfits. It makes getting dressed unbelievably simple but you don’t have to sacrifice on style. Feminine and fun, ruffles are an easy way to add detail and texture to an outfit. The dainty floral print on this Velvet by Graham & Spencer top is what caught my eye and the colours mean it can be worn with so many different combinations. For this day I wanted something in the middle, not too dressed up, something I felt comfortable in but slightly refined. It will also be the perfect addition to my festive evening wear pieces and I’ve already planned to wear it with some leather trousers and heeled boots for an event I’m going to next week.
For the colder months layering is essential, a timeless wool coat is a no brainer, classic and versatile it’s a winter wardrobe staple and by far my go to coat. The best in my opinion is the slimline tailored design which nips you in in all the right places and this one does exactly that! The olive colour and brass detailed buttons give it an air of British military style and its mid length is ideal for both trousers and skirts.
I have been a little indecisive on the over the knee boot trend as I have had the Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boot in my shopping basket for months and can’t decided if they are worth the investment. To help me make the decision I picked up this pair so that I could try them out and see if I got the wear out of them, lets just say I think I will be investing in another pair some time soon.
