The silver lining of these grey clouds in the sky is the thought of snuggling up in cosy outerwear. When it comes to the colder temperatures there is only two reason I reach for things in my wardrobe, practicality and comfort. Once I get cold I find it extremely difficult to warm back up again and so keeping toasty is on the top of my agenda.

With the weather as always being very unpredictable the right outerwear can last you right up to next April and so having a few styles in your wardrobe is worth the investment.

Faux fur gilets were extremely trendy last year and they are back again this season. At the moment it’s just about warm enough to wear them on their own but if the temperature plummets it fits neatly under a coat.

A gilet ramps up a simple look in an instant and the styling options are endless, with belting around the waist being a great option. The one I am wearing here is unbelievably soft and the raised neck acts as a bit of a scarf. I wore it with this bell sleeved sweater for extra detail in the sleeves and coated black jeans.

Whatever your budget there’s a number of chic gilets in the stores at the moment. I have popped a few below for the perfect transitional cover up and quite a few are in the sale at the moment!
