One of the main reasons I love Marrakech is that you are immersed into another culture with just a 3 1/2 hour flight from London and the square is a true example of this. During the day it is mostly filled with orange stalls, a handful of snake charmers and medicine men . As night starts to descend the square fills with dozens of food stalls, all trying to tempt you in for dinner. I've not yet plucked up the courage to do so!The souks adjacent to the square are filled with eager stall holders keen to show you what they have on offer. A somewhat overpowering sensory overload, filled with the sweet smell of spices, traditional Moroccan interiors and beautiful handmade gifts. It has set prices with a hand picked selection of home wares from the souks and so is great if your not much of a haggler. It's a little hard to find through the small souk alleys but getting lost is part of the fun in Marrakech. We booked a table on the terrace just before sunset so that we could watch the sun go down over the city. All the produce at Nomad is fresh and bought locally and mixes international and traditional cuisine. My tagine was delicious and the couscous which accompanied it was unbelievably light and fluffy. I could have spent hours lapping up the atmosphere and of course shopping for gems in the medina and so we stayed out until our feet couldn't take anymore.How gorgeous are the lanterns!?
