Green House BEFORE.

As you can see from the photo’s above this area of the garden was very overgrown when we moved in, so much so that we had no idea what the structure or landscape actually looked like. The greenhouse was in very poor condition, we had hoped it could be given a new lease of life in a new home but it was past the point of repair.

Last summer (2020) we spent some time cleaning up the area, I dreamed of planting a cut flower garden but as the months went on and with a lot of renovation work still to do in the house it became unmanageable again. It was nice to finally see what it looks like underneath all those weeds but we made the decision to leave it until we could properly work on the space. You wouldn’t believe the amount of weeds which surfaced after just one week!!

So in April 2021, with the thought of another summer staying at home we decided it was time to transform this space. These pictures really depict the saying ‘it’s got to get worse before it get’s better!’. We hired a skip, thinking we could also use it for some reno work inside the house and we filled it with rubble from this area within one day. The previous owners had just piled paths on top of paths, bricks on top of other paths and so on. As we dug down further we couldn’t believe what we were finding…drains which had been completely covered being my favourite!

Now we have ourselves a mud pit! It’s only taken a few weekend and the area is nearly cleared out. Although like any project, it’s easy to demolish but much harder to put stuff back in. So I am sure the next phase will take the longest.
