So of course, like all sensible people a few weeks before becoming homeless, Ollie and I decided to pack a bag on the Friday night and choose a destination not too far from London to spend a long weekend.Just like that, the suitcases were at the door and like magic I had come across a picture of Durdle Door on Instagram and I was sold. My job for the three hour journey down to Weymouth was to find somewhere to stay, the time flew by, I can’t recommend it highly enough to alleviate car boredom. We left our bags in the car for the day and with the rolling Dorset countryside calling our names we set off in search of the magnificent Durdle Door. The Jurassic Coast stretches 95 miles from East Devon to Dorset and although I've walked the Devon coastline throughout most of my life I had never visited Dorset before. The sweeping hills and sheer cliffs certainly look like something straight out of Jurassic Park.

When your travelling or visiting somewhere new, especially in the UK, you can never totally predict what the weather forecast will be (even if like me you look every second right up until leaving) and this day was no exception.

The weather forecast for almost the whole of the country had been pure sunshine, both Saturday and Sunday, which felt like a miracle in itself. We decided to walk along the cliffs where there were the best views and to head over to Lulworth Cove. As always though, we got distracted by a little path that looked far too interesting not to explore.

After some amazing views all the way down the beach we found this great little spot to sit for a while and reapply some sunscreen (yes it was that sunny). There were people on the beach sunbathing, though only a few were brave enough to pop in for a swim, dogs jumping into the waves fetching balls and I’m pretty sure someone had a little BBQ sizzling away.

I can’t remember if it was noticing a few people walking off the beach, or that it had just got the tiniest bit colder that made me look up. The far end of the beach was rapidly disappearing into a bank of sea fog, not a misty haze that leaves you wondering when the sun will come back, but a thick cold mist that sent some scurrying off the beach and others searching for discarded teeshirts and jumpers.

We headed back over to Durdle Door, determined to make the most of the day even if we could only see the foggy outline of the famous arch. Needless to say the British weather is beautifully unpredictable. The smile on my face is mostly down to the sun deciding it wanted to come back out and play just as we arrived, glistening off the sea as if nothing had ever been amiss.

I had been searching for a brightly coloured mac coat for a few upcoming trips and when I saw this Melrose Mac from Fat Face I knew I had to have it. The honey mustard colour is perfect, just the right shade of yellow and not too bright. I actually had it tucked into my bag in the morning until the sea fog came hurtling in. Not only is it waterproof but this gem kept me toasty protecting me from the wind.

Underneath I wore this dark washed denim mini skirt which has been so easy to thrown on now the days are getting warmer. The length is just right, it looks great with my white pumps and I’m sure it will last almost all year round once it’s paired with some sandals and eventually boots in Autumn.

On top I wore this floral Rosie trailing woodblock shirt, as most of you know I am a huge fan of blue and white and the floral pattern is just so pretty. The light fabric and not overly fitted style made it perfect for this warm day.
