Thankfully my brother happened to be picking up his girlfriend, April, from Gatwick that Friday and so we could catch a lift back with them, talk about timing! We left the house at 11:30am and didn’t get home to my parents until 8pm, driving conditions were horrendous and I was so thankful to be in a truck rather than my car.
On the Saturday we were pretty snowed it, it felt more like Christmas than my birthday as the family went for a walk in the snow and we lounged all afternoon as mum baked my birthday cake (traditional Victoria sponge with cream and jam!). It made for the best relaxing day as we couldn’t get anywhere.
The Sunday was my pre-birthday with the family. Mum and I popped into town to have a mooch around the shops in Exeter, most of the time spent in my favourite boutique, Lorna Ruby, before we all went for lunch at The Pig at Combe. I have wanted to visit this place for a while and my birthday felt like the perfect excuse. We sat in the library for drinks before and after lunch and felt right at home. The food was unbelievably delicious, along with the stunning interiors and perfect country location none of us wanted to leave and we stayed until late afternoon. I cant wait to head back again in the summer months.
Next on my birthday trip we traveled up to Cheltenham for a few days, I’ll be posting more from our stay there in my next post so stay tuned!
