Dress, Shoes (Similar), Bag, Sunglasses

A few weeks ago I popped along to the Aspinal of London Autumn/Winter 17 presentation at Claridge’s Hotel. Aspinal certainly know how to put on an event, with the ballroom dressed up to depict a decadent vintage theatre, red carpet rolled right out to the entrance, champagne flowing and a stunning collection of bags to admire displayed around the room.

Now, what to wear to an event like this? To be honest I hummed and harred for far too long until I pulled on this dress and heels. I’m awful for dressing down and going for the less flamboyant option in my wardrobe. I’m a dress lover, which can be particularly tricky in the winter months here in the UK as the cooler temperatures make it near impossible to get a chance to wear them. I had some luck on this day and the sun shone which gave the go ahead for this especially elegant little black dress. And so I thought, as I was pulling out all the stops, I might as well wear the highest heels I own too!

A black dress really is a must for any ladies wardrobe. I have a few which I pick from for occasions like this but this one from Isabelle Fox made for the perfect choice with the soft embroidered dot cotton fabric, nipped in waist and squared neckline making me feel comfortable and confident. I paired it with sunglasses to give it a more relaxed look, something I draw on a lot when I want to make an outfit less formal. The dress would be equally as elegant with some sandals and a straw bag in the summer months.

As you will see from the pictures just above, Aspinal yet again put together a lovely collection for Autumn/Winter 17 and I was so glad I opted for the black dress and it made for a great item to try all the bags on with. Aspinal have a wonderful way of making their products not just beautiful but also practical. Something which I considered first before purchasing anything nowadays as I hate things which sit in the cupboard unused. I was especially taken with their Marylebone Tech tote which has a charger pack with a pocket for your mobile with a cable path- total godsend for people glued to their phone like me!

In other news, I am currently in Lisbon with my family for a few more days and totally falling in love with the charm of the city (and also all the tiles). When I am back I will be booking flights to Canada for two weeks in August and meeting a Canadian on the train to Sintra on Monday has me thinking about planning the trip. Have you ever been to Canada? I would love some recommendations. x
